God’s Standard of Authority – Proverbs 30:5-6

3/25/18 p.m. sermon

Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
God’s Word is the absolute authority in all matters of faith, and recognizing that, the restorers of the 19th century understood that Christians ought to “speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where the Bible is silent.”  We are not permitted to go beyond, or do anything less than what the Bible says.  Unfortunately, many in the world have adopted the idea that whatever the Bible does not expressly forbid is permissible.  We explore that idea and others that are related in tonight’s lesson.

I Am Barabbas – Mark 15:6-15

3/25/18 a.m. sermon

Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
In an effort to free Jesus, Pilate offered the Jews the opportunity to choose between Jesus, the innocent Lamb of God, and Barabbas, a known insurrectionist and murderer.  The people chose Barabbas, and Jesus went to the cross instead.  Each one of us is in the place of Barabbas.  We deserve the punishment, but Jesus took our place in order to set us free.

A False Doctrine by Many Names – Jude 17-23

3/18/18 p.m. sermon

Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
With our interest in comparing what the Bible says to what men teach, to earnestly contend for the faith, we are going to begin looking at the doctrine of a particular group that started within the church of Christ many years ago.  There have been many names used to describe them, and we will examine some of those as we consider some of the history of the movement in this lesson.

The Decline of Morality – Romans 1:18-32

3/18/18 a.m. sermon

Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
It only took 10 generations from Adam to Noah for morality in the world that God created to decline so much that only Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  How does that happen?  How does man become so wicked that the thought of his heart is only evil continually?  According to Romans 1, it begins with a denial of God, and multiple sins follow.
