Many in the religious world have adopted one or more of a myriad of organizational structures for their churches. The Bible, however, tells of no structure larger than that of the local congregation. It’s important that we understand what God’s Word has to say about organization, and that we put it into practice.

In Luke 14, Jesus expressed the need for his followers to understand the cost of following him. In several places He speaks of His disciples to know what they will face when they follow Him. In Luke 9, there are three men who needed to understand the cost of following Jesus. One needed to better understand the Pressure that would be put on him as a follower; one needed to understand the Priority he needed to place on following Jesus. A third man needed to understand that when it comes to following Jesus, it is a Pursuit that requires whole-hearted, unwavering commitment.

Shortly after Peter confessed Peter as the Christ, Jesus began to review to his disciples what was about to happen to him in Jerusalem, which also made it necessary for him to teach them more about the kingdom.  One of the aspects they needed to understand is that the kingdom was going to require sacrifice.
