Blessed Are the Poor in Spirit – Matthew 5:3 – 1/6/19 p.m. devotional

Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
Each first Sunday of the month, we have an abbreviated period of worship in the evening, after which we participate in singing and a meal.  Our lessons on these evenings are shorter, around ten minutes or so.  This year, for many of those first sunday devotionals, we will be looking at the Beatitudes.  In this lesson, we examine Matthew 5:3, Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Take The Name Of Jesus With You – Acts 3:1-6 – 1/6/19 a.m. sermon

Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
As we began the new year, we focused on the importance of making our life in Christ a daily walk, and taking the name of Christ with us each day.  With that in mind, we examine the example of the apostles, Peter and John, in Acts 3, and how the name of Jesus was at the center of their healing a man, and their preaching that resulted from that miracle.

The Golden Image – Daniel 3:1-12 – 1/6/19 Sunday Bible Class

Teacher: Jim Roquemore
We at the Orangeburg Church of Christ apologize that we have been slack in posting our lessons in recent weeks.  Between holiday travel, illness, and other unexpected happenings, things have gotten a little out of hand and we have gotten behind.
We began January by returning to a series on Daniel that Bro. Jim Roquemore had began in the latter part of 2018.  Chapters 1-2 have already been covered in previous lessons.  Chapter 3 focuses on the account of the golden image, and the determination of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to stay loyal to their God.  In this lesson we focus more on the circumstances surrounding the construction and dedication of the image, and in the next lesson, we will focus on the faithfulness of three young Jewish men.

The Life of Christ: Transition to Judea (Part 1) – 1/2/19 Wednesday Bible Class

Teacher: Justin P. Sivley
We at the Orangeburg Church of Christ apologize that we have been slack in posting our lessons in recent weeks.  Between holiday travel, illness, and other unexpected happenings, things have gotten a little out of hand and we have gotten behind.
With the beginning of the new year, we returned to a previous topic of study in our Wednesday Night Bible Class.  We pick our study of the Life of Christ where we suspended it in June of 2018.  At this point in the narrative, Jesus is entering the last 6 months of his life on earth, and is moving the focus of his ministry from Galilee to Judea and the surrounding areas.

What Does God Want Out of Me in 2019? – 12/30/18 Bible Class

Teacher: Matt Burleson
We at the Orangeburg Church of Christ apologize that we have been slack in posting our lessons in recent weeks.  Between holiday travel, illness, and other unexpected happenings, things have gotten a little out of hand and we have gotten behind.  We bring this lesson, the last Bible Class lesson from 2018, in which Brother Matt Burleson encourages us for the new year.  Even though we are several weeks into the new year, this lesson could surely benefit us all.
