Did you know there is a second letter to the church at Ephesus in the Bible?  It’s very short, and it’s actually contained within another book.  In the second and third chapters of Revelation, several churches are mentioned who are given specific instructions from the Lord.  Ephesus is one of those churches, and as we conclude our study of Ephesians, we take a look at those few verses in Revelation 2.

The Christian life is compared to many things in the Bible.  It is sometimes a walk or a race.  Sometimes it is spoken of in terms of the household or family that we are part of.  In Ephesians 6, Paul speaks of it as a battle, a battle against the forces of evil, and a battle for which we must be prepared.

No matter what kind of relationship we have with someone, Christians should always behave as Christians.  In Ephesians 6, Paul deals with the relationship between slaves and masters, a passage we often apply to the employee/employer relationship today.  Whatever situation we find ourselves in, even if it is one we are not happy with, we have no excuse for not behaving as a Christian.

After dealing with the husband and wife relationship in Ephesians 5, Paul turns his attention to other relationships.  The first one that he deals with is the relationship between parents and children, giving instruction to children in verses 1-3, and instruction to the parents in verse 4.

God instituted and blessed marriage from the very beginning, and we have an obligation to follow God’s pattern when it comes to marriage.  Included in that is understanding the roles of both husband and wife, which Paul gives some explanation of in Ephesians 5.
