I Am the Bread of Life – John 6:35-59

– 2/28/21 a.m. sermon
– Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
– We need food to survive.  We must eat regularly, or we will die.  But even if we eat healthy every day, we will eventually die anyway.  However, there is a bread, the bread of life, that if we have it in our lives, we will live forever. Jesus is the bread of life.  If we will trust and obey him, we will have eternal life.

– In the middle of preaching at Solomon’s Portico (Acts 3), Peter and John were arrested by the Sanhedrin.  Being arrested changed nothing for them, as they continued preaching the gospel, even to the Jewish leaders.  Unable to charge the apostles with anything, the council commanded them to stop preaching, a threat that wouldn’t have the desired effect.

– 2/14/21 p.m. sermon
– Speaker: Justin P. Sivley
– One of the difficult tasks of the modern day reader of Scripture is to make sense of passages that speak on the topic of slavery.  As we study God’s word together, we will consider a few reasons why passages like this are included, and what they meant for first century readers.  Along the way, we will also consider some application for today.
